What is SARS debt?
SARS Debt takes the form of VAT Debt, or Tax Debt. This includes PAYE debt and Income Tax debt. You are legally required to pay SARS on a monthly basis, and if you fail to make payments, you are incurring SARS Debt which makes you liable for penalties and, potentially, criminal prosecution.
How do I resolve my SARS debt?
When you employ a practitioner to resolve your SARS Debt, you need to make sure that you are dealing with the best. At Tax Debt Relief, we negotiate a suitable arrangement with SARS based on your affordability and financial situation. Tax Debt Relief boasts a 100% success rate and we are guaranteed to find a solution that suits you financially, whilst halting criminal prosecution and further penalties that could potentially be imposed by SARS.
Why can’t I just use my attorney?
As much as we give attorneys credit for the work they do, most of them simply do not possess the financial knowledge required to negotiate efficiently with SARS. Hiring an attorney to deal with SARS on your behalf is the equivalent of fighting fire with fire.
What about using my accountant?
We work hand-in-hand with your accountant to achieve the best possible outcome for your business. Asking us to deal with your debt is not a reflection on your accountant’s ability, it is simply the best decision as most accountants have not specialised in the art of dealing with tax, or the debt that is associated to it. A large portion of our client base have been referred to us by accountants that we have dealt with in the past. They know that by referring their clients to us, they will keep their client happy and in business.
What do I do if SARS has instituted legal proceedings against me?
If SARS has already instituted legal proceedings, it is imperative that you contact a reliable tax practitioner urgently to resolve the matter and halt any and all legal action that has already been taken. If you use Tax Debt Relief, once we have submitted your application for either a Debt Compromise or an Instalment Payment Agreement, we put something in place called a Suspension of Payment Agreement. This agreement stops SARS from instituting any further action against you, and ‘pauses’ any action already taken, until an agreement is reached regarding your SARS Debt.
How long do applications take?
The length of an application is entirely dependent upon the specific case, however, we can safely advise that cases generally take between two weeks and four months to reach their conclusion.
How do I receive a tax clearance certificate?
In order to receive a Tax Clearance Certificate, you cannot have any outstanding debt with SARS, or you need to have an arrangement with SARS that SARS deems acceptable.
